Promising subtle design enhancements, improved performance, and user-friendly upgrades, this new iteration aims to deliver a more polished experience without straying too far from what made the original so popular.
What follows is a review from Hannah, here at ELQD ECIGS, and my thoughts on the Luxe XR Max 2 since its release.

First Look
Curious to see how Vaporesso have refined the original Luxe XR Max, I picked up the Luxe XR Max 2 in Blue to put it to the test. Straight away, it has a semi-matte sheen finish to the zinc-alloy body, much like the previous version, giving it a sleek yet understated look.
Just like the original Luxe XR Max, the 2 has a clear polycarbonate window displaying the device’s circuit board. This is once again enhanced by LED back-lighting which changes colour depending on your chosen theme.
The fire button remains unchanged, which is fine by me – I never had any issues with it. Its placement is perfect, easy to locate without looking, and feels naturally comfortable to press during use.
Vaporesso keeps the branding clean and minimal, with its name subtly placed along the side and the distinctive, Avenger-like emblem engraved on the back.
Design & Build Quality
Built from durable zinc-alloy, the Luxe XR Max 2 weighs a slightly lighter 117g compared to the previous version (124g). Despite the minor drop in weight, it maintains a solid, well-balanced feel in the hand, reinforcing its premium build and long-term durability. This lighter frame also accommodates an expanded 3200mAh battery, up from 2800mAh, without adding any extra bulk.
The Luxe XR Max 2 pods retain the durable PCTG construction and smart design of the original, continuing to use Vaporesso’s COREX technology with Morph-Mesh coils and fluffier cotton for faster E-liquid delivery, even heating, and enhanced flavour consistency. SSS leak-resistant tech and strong magnetic connections are still present for a mess-free, secure fit. Notably, the included 0.2Ω GTX coil installed in the DTL pod now features a Dual Mesh design, offering even better vapour production and flavour saturation. Full compatibility with the GTX coil series remains a major plus for existing Vaporesso users.
One notable design upgrade is the new protective silicone base, which not only adds durability and grip but also houses a practical lock switch to prevent accidental firing – a welcome feature when carrying the device in a bag or pocket. As with the previous version, the USB-C charging port remains conveniently located on the base.
The display screen has received a significant upgrade – now a larger and more vibrant 0.96″ TFT display, replacing the smaller 0.54″ OLED from the Luxe XR Max. It provides clear information for battery status, vaping mode, resistance, and puff count. Pressing the fire button multiple times allows you to access and adjust these settings and more, which I’ll explore in greater detail further down.
The adjustable airflow control has also seen a welcome upgrade -it’s now larger and allows for more precise control over airflow. Vaporesso has also replaced the previous pin mechanism with a new sliding system that sits comfortably under the thumb. Not only is it more ergonomic, but it also feels noticeably smoother to adjust compared to the previous model.
Unfortunately, the Luxe XR Max 2 still lacks auto-draw functionality, and relies solely on the fire button for activation. While this offers more control and consistent power delivery, it may be a slight drawback for users who prefer the convenience and simplicity of inhale-activated vaping.
How to Use the Luxe XR Max 2
- Remove the device from its packaging.
- Lift the pod out of the device.
- Open the filling bung on the base of the pod.
- Insert the nozzle of your E-liquid, gently squeezing until the pod is full.
- Close the filling bung and ensure it’s firmly in place.
- Allow the pod to sit for at least 15 minutes before using – this is to ensure the coil has primed.
- Press the fire button 5 times quickly to power the Luxe XR Max 2 on or off.
- Press and hold the fire button when inhaling to activate.
Additional Settings
To adjust the wattage, press the fire button 3 times quickly. Press the fire button once to confirm.
To enter the settings menu, press the fire button 2 times quickly. Use the touchscreen arrows (< >) to navigate the menu. Press the fire button once to confirm the chosen setting.
Settings:
- PUFF: Resets the puff counter
- BRIGHT: Adjust the display brightness (10-100)
- LED: Turn on or off
- DEFAULT: Restore to factory default settings
- EXIT: Back to main display
PULSE: Delivers consistent power throughout each puff
ECO: Lower wattage output to preserve battery life
SMART: Turn on/off. When Smart Mode is on, the system will auto-adjust the wattage to the best power within the recommended range.

Maxed Out: Vaporesso Luxe XR Max vs Luxe XR Max 2
Vaporesso’s Luxe XR Max made a strong impression with its solid build, satisfying performance, and customisable features. But with the release of the Luxe XR Max 2, the question is: how much has really changed? In this section, I’ll break down the key differences and improvements between the two models to help you decide if the upgrade is worth it.

Performance
I started off testing the MTL pod with the 0.8Ω GTX coil, pairing it with a new favourite of mine, Blue Razz Cherry from Elux’s Legend Nic Salt range in 10mg.
With a wattage range of 12-18W, I set mine to a comfortable 16W to strike a balance between flavour and efficiency. The pod delivered a smooth MTL draw with a surprisingly punchy flavour. The sharp tang of blue raspberry hits first, followed by a rich cherry sweetness, all rounded off with a subtle cooling note that gives the vape a clean, refreshing finish. Despite the lower wattage, flavour clarity was excellent, and the vapour production felt just right for a nicotine salt setup. Efficiency was another plus – I managed to get around 48 hours over 5 days and 468 puffs before the battery needed a recharge, making it a great option for all-day use without compromising on taste.
In between testing the MTL and DTL pods, I set the Luxe XR Max 2 aside to charge. An hour later it was ready and raring to go again!
I then switched to the DTL pod with the new GTX 0.2Ω Dual Mesh coil, pairing it with Wick Liquor’s Boulevard shortfill. The 0.2Ω coil is rated for 45-60W, and I found the sweet spot at 55W. The result was a bold burst of tropical fruit punch layered with the unique depth of loganberry pulp, delivering a vibrant and complex vape that stayed smooth throughout. As expected at this wattage, the 0.2Ω is thirsty on both juice and battery – I managed around 11 hours and 165 puffs before the device signalled it was time to recharge – but the payoff in flavour and vapour production makes it worthwhile.
Conclusion
The Luxe XR Max 2 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it smartly refines it. With subtle design tweaks, a larger battery, and improved usability, Vaporesso has delivered a thoughtful upgrade that builds on what made the original great.
