From 1st October 2026 the UK government will be applying a duty to all bottles of e-liquid and devices containing e-liquids. The duty is £0.22 + VAT per 1ml of e-liquid. The vape duty will be applied to all e-liquids, whether they contain nicotine or not, so even shortfills and zero nicotine e-liquids will have the duty applied.
Here’s an example of how much extra the vape duty will add to the most popular products:
- 10ml bottle of e-liquid – Increase of £2.64 per bottle
- 100ml shortfill bottle of e-liquid – Increase of £26.40 per bottle
- Lost Mary BM6000 (12ml) – Increase of £3.17 per kit/refill
- Dojo Blast 10k (10ml) – Increase of £2.64 per kit/refill
There is also the additional hidden costs of manufacturing the products. Each product package must only open from 1 side (to prevent tampering) and a vape duty stamp must be applied to the packaging. We expect manufacturers to increase the base cost of products in October, before the vape duty is even applied.
Refillable kits, those that do not contain e-liquid, such as the Oxva and Vaporesso kits, will stay the same price. The vape duty only applies to a product if it contains e-liquid. The same goes for nicotine pouches, those will remain outside the scope of the vape duty (for now at least).
Overall this is going to be a massive blow to our customers who rely on vaping to stay off tobacco products. It is an added expense that people don’t need. The only people who benefit from this are the government.
When will the new prices come into effect?
We don’t know how long our suppliers will hold unstamped stock for and as you can imagine all retailers will be bulk buying due to the increased demand. From 1st April 2027 all products being sold must be stamped, but we expect supplier stock to run out well before this date. We will be sure to communicate with everyone as much as possible during this transition.
What will the new prices be?
Honestly, we don’t know yet. We have to wait until October to assess if manufacturers will increase the base cost of their products before applying the duty. We will update this page when we have more information. But prices will increase at the very least by the duty amount (£2.64 per 10ml).
