An electronic cigarette, also known as an e-cigarette, vapor cigarette or an e-cig, is an electrical inhaler that vaporizes a liquid solution into an aerosol mist, simulating the act of tobacco smoking.
How Do Electronic Cigarettes Work?
E-cigarettes don’t burn tobacco, instead they deliver nicotine in the form of vapor. As you ‘smoke’ on the e-cig, liquid nicotine is drawn into the atomizing chamber where it’s heated and turned into a vapor. This vapor is then drawn into the mouthpiece, delivering the nicotine in the same way as a regular cigarette.
Every e-cigarette typically contains 3 parts:
- The clearomizer tank which holds the eliquid solution with a hole for the user to inhale the vapour
- The atomizer which heats the e-liquid and turns it into vapour, normally found inside the tank
- The battery, operated by holding a button down
